Our friendly, experienced team and warm, welcoming atmosphere are sure to make even nervous patients feel calm and at ease when visiting us at Scottish Dental Clinic.
At Scottish Dental Clinic, we understand that for some patients, visiting the dentist can cause feelings of nervousness, anxiety, and even fear. Our welcoming, highly knowledgeable team are on hand to help our patients through every step of their dental journey and can help put you at ease immediately.
What is dentophobia?
Dentophobia is a fear of the dentist. While patients might think they’re unique in experiencing this phobia, in fact, many adults in the UK live with dentophobia. At Scottish Dental Clinic, we understand that each patient’s experience of this fear is totally unique, however, and we do everything we can to help them feel comfortable and safe when visiting us.
What we don’t want, is patients putting off dental examinations or forgoing treatment altogether because they’re too worried or anxious about coming to the dentist. This can lead to oral health issues that might otherwise be avoided and the need for more invasive treatments.
What do we do to help our anxious patients?
The most important thing we can do as dentists and dental professionals are listen. Our aim is to build a trusting relationship with all our patients, and this is especially true when treating nervous patients. We’ll always take time to listen to your worries and anxieties and then put your mind at ease.
Next, we emphasise open communication. This means you can ask us anything, at any time and we’ll always give you an honest and easy-to-understand answer – there’s no such thing as a silly question here, so no matter how big or small your request is, we’ll do our utmost to answer it. We’ll also always be upfront with you about treatment, making sure to offer you an array of options where possible and provide you with all the information necessary to make an informed and educated decision about your oral health.
We’ve also created a warm and welcoming environment for every patient to step into. Our boutique practice is beautifully designed to create a relaxed and comfortable patient experience.
Do you offer sedation services?
Yes, we’re able to provide sedation services where necessary. Sedation is often used in longer and more complex treatments, but we can also offer it to nervous patients who feel they’d be more comfortable when receiving treatment this way.
